Yummy Yummy Food Sunday # 2

Growing up whenever we visited my grandparents and all the family was together my mamaw would make an awesome breakfast delicacy. Now that I am grown and my mamaw is gone I don't get to have this as often as I would like.  With children of my own and now a stay at home mom I have decided this needs to become a household tradition.

Have you ever heard of Chocolate Gravy and Biscuits?  Yum yum!!! This is probably more of a southern recipe... But everyone should try it at least once. It's scrumptiously delicious!!

It's that time of year again!!!

Today I am so glad that I can finally say it is OFFICIALLY football season again here in the SEC. If your not an SEC fan... or an Arkansas Razorback fan you may want to ignore this post.

Razorback Football Season

The first game is today Saturday August 31, 2013!!
I am so excited!!

Go Arkansas Razorbacks!!

Thrifty Thursday #5 - Target Cartwheel

It's almost the weekend!! I cannot believe how fast this week has flown. If you read any of my blog you know that we just brought our second bundle of joy home on Tuesday. It's such a difference between a toddler and a newborn. You forget how wonderfully small they are... And all their little movements and grunts and such. I just adore them!! Granted my little one is letting me get sleep... Which I cannot believe. So I am super lucky that I am not being drained by all nighters. The joys of motherhood are awesome and tiring all at the same time. But boy do I just love holding that little baby!!

Due to loving holding her so much I have declined some blogging responsibilities which I am sure will continue for the next couple of weeks.  I mean... They only stay this small for so long. :)

Today though I did want to share with you again this awesome site brought to us by target. The last time I mentioned it, the site was still in testing. Now they have rolled out an app on smart phones and they are putting it in full swing. You can download the Target Cartwheel app from the App Store on your smartphone for free. Or you can check out the website here.

Cartwheel Logo

You can save up to 15% on items in different sections of the store. Including electronics and clothing. That extra 10-15% off will help especially on larger items. Go check it out today online or download via the AppStore. Have a wonderful Thursday!

Tuesday Toddler Tales - How to beat the heat with your toddler

This tuesday is all about beating the heat with your toddler. What are ways you beat the heat and yet still find awesomely fun activities to do with your toddler?? I know at our house if my toddler wants to do anything fun outside and it's hot... that means it has to include water of some sort.  Here in NWA we have had a lot of rain over the past month, which is very strange for August.  Not that we are complaining or anything.  So needless to say it hasn't been dreadfully H O T as it usually is here in Arkansas.

Even still with all of that rain we have managed to now jump back into the almost triple digits on the heat index. Even though things are nice and pretty and green, we are now experiencing the dreaded H E A T.

We have some water parks (if that's what you want to call them) around the area that are not too expensive to attend... but during this summer and being pregnant... I choose to not try these alone with my very rambunctious toddler.  So we played things outside that way pregnant mom could maintain a level of non-craziness.

This is something that I have been wanting to do, I even bought a tarp and we were going to put it up at CWB's birthday party a couple of weekends ago, but since mommy bought the wrong size of tarp... we didn't get to try this awesome idea out. Check it out here on Pinterest.  Or you can go directly to the site that has an awesome tutorial on how to make this giant outdoor water bed here.  Thanks to My Frugal Adventures for this great tutorial.

Needless to say I haven't made it yet... but I will soon! It just looks like so much fun!!

My Weekend in Review # 4

I am a little late on the blogging due to delivering our second child yesterday... so I am not sure how many blogs you will get from me in the next couple of weeks/months. Hopefully my "angel baby" is going to make things really easy on momma. :)

Basically our weekend consisted of rest... rest... and more rest. And of course preparing for our new little bundle of joy to join our home.

We did manage to take our little CWB to an indoor play place and he did enjoy it a ton... he had a lot of fun with dad there.  I do hope you all had a good weekend.

Thrifty Thursday's #4 - Ways to Save

There are some things that people don't think of when they go to try and save money.  I know I didn't... especially prior to becoming a full time stay at home mom. The funny thing is... is this is the simplest way to save money.  Like duh?? Why haven't I thought of this and been using these coupons all this time?? Golly gee... I have to laugh at myself sometimes.

1) Sign up for emails that send you coupons from your favorite restaurants, places, shops, etc. Now granted getting the useless spam emails is annoying at times.... but when you get a coupon code or a meal ticket for free then hello it's all worth it. We love to go out to eat... I mean what mom doesn't get tired of thinking of what to feed her family, and cooking the meal. It gets old day after day... and it's nice to be able to go out to eat and "treat" the family.  For example CWB loves Bob Evans, he talks about it at least once a week, and wants to go eat there. So I signed up for the emails through their website and I get a coupon at least once a week for a BOGO dinner meal or BOGO breakfast meal.

2) If you like free movies... which who doesn't?? Sign up through Redbox for their e-mails which they will send you coupons for free movies.

If there is a restaurant or a special place that you like to shop you can usually hit up their web page to get special deals and discounts or notifications if they are having a special sale to their customers.  Go sign up today and save money!!

Rug Rat Wednesday #4 - Bubble Play

Kids love bubbles... adults love bubbles... plain and simple.  There are many activities that involve bubbles. I found this via pinterest (of course), it seems so simple and fun. Kids love fun and simple activities. Check out the pin here.

Ingredients Needed:
  Dish Soap

Playing outside.

Playing inside with cars and whisks. The inside play lasted longer than outside... I think the cars helped.  He played for a long time at the sink.

Exploring Nature - Tuesday's Toddler Tales

Toddler Tuesday

Tuesday's Toddler Tales

Today's Toddler Tales topic is Exploring Nature. I am limited to the amount of exploring nature for CWB due to the fact that I am well into 38 weeks of pregnancy. My dream would be to take him on a nature walk to a creek somewhere in beautiful Northwest Arkansas. But alas, I don't want to go into labor on a hiking trail somewhere in the middle of nature with my three year old and no one else.

So next best thing... exploring the nature available in our own backyard.  I have found multiple nature scavenger hunt lists and documents online that you can print off to explore nature.  I made a more three year old friendly version. You can print it here.  Unfortunately our printer is on the fritz... so I had to improvise by showing him what to find on my phone.  Which worked out well because I could zoom in on the document... and show him the words and such.

My child loves rocks... I'm not sure if that's a boy thing. Or just a CWB thing... but he loves them. :)

Once we started working on the scavenger hunt... he got the idea and really started having fun with it.

Needless to say I will have to make a longer list next time.  He then wanted to wash everything in water. :)
We then went over everything and what it's name was.

My Weekend in Review #3

Weekend Review

This weekend we celebrated CWB's 3rd Birthday with a Thomas the Train Party Bash!!  The weather was perfect... though I had planned a swimming/water party... it was a little cool for that. So we had some water fun and bubbles. The kids had a blast. CWB racked up on some awesome gifts... and we got to enjoy some much needed friend company before baby sister arrives. We have some awesome friends I must say!!

My homemade cupcake cake... turned out pretty awesome with some cute printable's I found online.
Of course if you haven't seen the review of the awesome water table pirate ship on the blog already you must look it up here. If you have a toddler that you want to find an awesome toy for... that they can use again and again but it's not really messy. This is the one. This pirate ship is on it's second summer, and CWB still loves to play with it! (This is just my mom opinion, I have not been compensated in anyway... unfortunately)

Sprinkler fun... and resting afterwards. Cannot believe that my little CWB is 3!! He loves to tell me that he is a big boy now... makes this mom sad and happy.

We also had some creek fun this weekend... he loves rocks.  So this was a big hit. :-)

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

My Big Boy Turns 3!!!

Today is going to be a day filled with fun and sadness... it just seems like I gave birth him not to long ago. Now he is my backseat driver, my best friend, my helper, my everything.... all wrapped up in one nutshell... My CWB!

Born 8/17/2010 at 7:40 PM
8 pounds 10 ounces
18.5 inches long

5 months

9 months

13 months

3 years old

I cannot believe how fast he has grown.  It is true... what they say... that you don't know love until you have a child of your own.  That's a love that will never fade or change... no matter what.

The Giving Tree

That's what parent do right?? Or are supposed to do?? Especially mommy's... love your child more than you love yourself. No matter how many people try to explain this to you before you have children, you will not understand this until you yourself have a child.

Happy 3rd Birthday Chase!!

Some Friday Funnies

Say it with me.... WHEW!!! It's finally FRIDAY! The weather here in Northwest Arkansas is completely and utterly awesome.  Not sure how it is where you are at... but I'm loving the fall like temperatures... it makes it nice for this big 'ol pregnant momma whose almost three year old wants to "play outside" all day long.

Since it's finally Friday I thought it would be nice to end the week in some laughs.  I mean what's a better way to end the week then with laughter?

Now this is the most hilarious thing I have seen in a long time.  Being a soon to be mom again, I am sort of aware of what's coming... you know the sleepless nights, the crying, gas, fussiness, breast feeding...blah blah blah etc. But at the same time we are instilled to forget at least some of the trials new parents face. I have become quite accustomed to my at least 8 hours of sleep at night... albeit not the best sleep now that I am 9 months pregnant... but nonetheless still 8 hours of pretty much uninterrupted sleep. This Parenthood the mini musical I found from Baby Center just made me laugh.  It's a must watch for parents, soon to be parents, or people who think they want children. :)

Watch the video here. Seriously you must watch it!! I couldn't figure out how to add it to the actual blog... so sorry... I'm kind of computer retarded that way.

This also plays into my sick and twisted nursing humor. :)

Exactly!! If only they understood that you mean business when you say this.

Now off to a great weekend!

Thrifty Thursday's #3 - Coupons!!

If you are not already doing coupons then like I've said before you are missing out... that's free money (well almost free money).  They do take a little work and time, but well worth it in the end. I absolutely L O V E handing my handful of coupons to the cashier when it's time to check out. It makes me feel like I am contributing something besides all the housework, cooking, cleaning, etc...

I am sure you have heard of for getting to print out extra coupons. They are the regular manufacturer coupons, but they sometimes have different savings, as well as you can get multiples this way.
Basically for using this site all you have to do is download a coupon printer so that you can print the coupons. I always double check here before I go to the store to make sure that I have all the coupons I can possibly use.

Another way to save is checking the actual store's website to see if they have their own coupons that you can use in addition to the manufacturer coupon.  Target's coupons are available here, these are Target coupons so they can be used in conjunction with regular manufacturer coupons plus this awesome new thing that I have just recently found called Cartwheel by Target. You can check that out here.  This allows even more savings by taking a percentage off of certain items. All you have to do is select which items you want to buy, and print out or let the cashier scan the bar code on your smart phone. This can save you up to 15% or more on some items.

It makes me feel really accomplished when I get to use three different types of savings on one item when I check out. WOO HOO! Go me. :-)

Hope these posts are helping you find new ways to save money.  Do you have any ways that you can add to save money?

Rug Rat Wednesday #3 - No Mess Painting

I recently stumbled across this awesome idea via Pinterest. If you are not following me on Pinterest go check out my boards. I have found a lot of neat options to keep the kiddo's busy.  This activity is awesome because it's not messy and it takes little time to set it up. Which hello... who doesn't just love???

Plus on this particular day we had two of my CWB's cousin's here for visit and they are ages 6 and 5, and both were intrigued by this activity as well as my little two year old. So score for me!!

Check out the pin here to see the instructions. Basically you just put different colors of paint in a ziploc bag and tape it to the table with a piece of paper behind it. Mess free and you can do multiple colors and it shows them how mixing certain colors makes other colors. Another plus for this activity.

Now granted it wasn't long before they were done with the painting... but I am sure I could have had more bags made and they would have done more.  Plus afterwards we hung them up on the window and the light showed through them... which is also cool and a great way to show off their artwork.

Rug Rat Fun Rating
1 (being horrible eck) to 10 (being awesome... let's play again)

Recent Toddler Challenges - Tuesday's Toddler Tales Linky

Today I am writing about some recent toddler challenges that we have been having in our home.  With baby sister about to be here any day... we have been trying to make sure that we are all ready as far as big brother is concerned.  Since we have moved him in to his big boy room a couple months back we have been having bedtime issues... the crying for an hour bedtime issues. I am sure there are many other of you toddler mom's out there that have been through this or are currently going through this.  It's so very frustrating.

I have read books after books... blog after blogs... researched it online.... everything that the "experts" say to do we have tried.  We have a routine that we follow every night... it's bath, PJ's, brush teeth, read two books, and then lights out. Same old boring routine every night. He usually goes to bed the same time every night as well.  Yet we still have the same issue of crying for at least an hour after going to bed.

So... after many attempts to remedy this situation... and many discussions we have decided to just ignore the crying, screaming, temper tantrum that have been happening.  When we sleep trained him as a baby, the only thing that would work was letting him cry it out but you couldn't go in there. If you would go in to check on him like the books said (every 5 minutes) then he would just get more mad and yell even louder and for longer.

So the husband and I joined a united front...we would follow our routine as usual and once in bed after saying good nights (cause he is always fine UNTIL you shut the door to leave).... then the yelling and screaming would be ignored. No going back in to comfort, to give one more drink, to pick up his lovey off the floor and give it back.... no more!!

Now granted this has not been easy.... I have kept a log of how long the crying and screaming has lasted every night so that we make sure we are actually making progress.  And lo and behold we have progress!! We are so happy and excited!! We are determined to break this nonsense before baby RLB is born.

The first night he cried and screamed for an hour (we also have a video monitor so we can watch the temper tantrum and make sure he is safe during), the second night was 40 minutes, the third night was 20 minutes, and the last two nights there was no crying... just simple good night, love you, kisses and hugs, shut the door and peace and quiet. He doesn't fall asleep right away but he talks to himself quietly and then after about 20-30 minutes he falls asleep.

I am so happy... after enduring this torture of listening to the crying and screaming.... that we have success.  Now to keep on the straight and narrow and not change a thing.... aaaahhh I would raise my glass and toast if I wasn't pregnant... raise my glass and toast to NO toddler temper tantrums.

(Note: The toddler was not hurt during this exercise.  As you can tell by the picture below.)

My weekend in review #2

To be honest not much was accomplished at our house this weekend. But that's just fine with us. We have two weeks before baby sister will be here so rest is a must... Even if that means all three of us laying around in what CWB calls "the big bed"... He means our giant king size awesome bed... That I adore... We all do. Which is why much family time is spent there, just hanging out and resting. :)

We did manage to fit some play time in at the park...

We also did some light reading of the bible...

We also watched some airplanes...

All in all I think it was a nice weekend. Next weekend... CWB's third birthday party... And then after that maybe baby sister will decide to make her appearance. :)

Schedule's galore!!

My Crazy Scheduled Life

Think I've went overboard??? Me too. :-) But in my defense... I did just go from being a very pregnant working full time mom, to a very pregnant full time stay at home mom with a busy toddler who is used to being entertained by a bunch of older boys to play with.... so I am trying to make sure that I can handle/juggle everything that needs done plus make sure he gets his wiggles out on a daily basis. Also trying to make sure that I don't go crazy in the process since I have never been a stay at home mom... I have always worked since the age of 16. This is an adjustment... for all of us.

So schedules... they make me feel better. :-)  Curious to see what I've planned? Here's what I've got.... you can follow the links below to print out what I have made, or you can edit the documents as well to fit what you would like.  The food schedule I printed off-line and just wrote in what we were going to eat. I also made copies so that I can plan ahead and will have the list ready when it's time to go shopping. (Hopefully I can get the shopping done minus my toddler... it makes it easier to stay on budget... as I'm sure you know).

Daily Schedule - This is basically a schedule of our days activities.... it changes daily. I do not follow a strict regimen, but this gives us an idea of what to expect for the day.  This week was the first week at home together and this helped.  You can use this as a basis if you would like, I started with using CWB's nap times and eating times as a basis, and then went from there onto other things.

Weekly Cleaning Calendar - Since moving into our bigger house, and our laundry seeming to multiply since CWB turned older, and now with baby girl on the way, I knew I needed to start cleaning something everyday. Or I would be killing myself all in one day. As I am sure you can tell that we are a little OCD around here... we love a clean house... that's just us... and it works best.... so cleaning something everyday makes me feel on top of all the chaos. Which makes me happy... you know when momma's not happy no one is happy. :-)

Our Monthly Calendar - I print them offline for free and then fill in what we have going on for the month. It's up on the fridge and everyone can look at what's going on.

There are multiple calendars and printables that you can print off from offline.  I like this menu the best, it's pretty and has space to write for three meals. Since I have to figure out three meals a day for us now, this helps a ton. Thanks to Taylor at Domestic8d blog for the Weekly Menu Printable that's so cute and awesome!  You can of course find the one that's right for you.

Weekly Schedule is something I have printed offline, but haven't started using yet. It basically breaks down day by day for your week. I am sure when we get more busy around here with two kids, school, and activities that this will definitely come in handy.

That's my schedules in a nutshell... it may be crazy... but our house runs smoothly with these. Which makes for a happy pregnant hormonal mom. :-)
